Vision & Priorities: a mid-year check-in!

There’s something about July.

For some, it marks the start of a new financial year. For others, it’s the halfway point on a calendar year strategy. Either way, it’s a natural moment to pause and reflect: Are we on track to deliver what we set out to achieve?

At fr&nk, one of the elements we look at in our capability framework is Vision and Priorities. This is more than just having a health and safety action plan. It’s about making sure your strategic objectives are clear, well communicated and, most importantly, resourced.

Proficient capability is when Health & Safety goals are integrated into the organisation’s strategic planning and business objectives with resource allocation that prioritises proactive risk mitigation and continuous improvement.

fr&nk Health & Safety Capability Framework

July is often the time when things start to wobble.

New Financial Year Budgets. Targets shift. Resources stretch and key initiatives, especially in areas like health and safety, can start to drift somewhere in the shuffle.

Psychosocial risk management is a good example. Over the past year, awareness has grown. Many organisations have made public commitments, updated policies, or built wellbeing goals into their strategy. But what happened next? Were resources actually allocated? Did teams have the time, training or tools to meet expectations?

If you’re in an executive or board role, now is the time to check in. Review the strategy. Revisit the budget. And look closely at the link between what you say you’ll do, and what you’ve actually made possible.

Setting big goals is easy. What matters is properly resourcing them, especially in critical areas like health and safety.

A capability review can help you determine whether your current plans are setting the operations up for success or whether it’s time to realign priorities. It’s how we help close the gap between strategic intent and operational reality.

When priorities are clear, and properly supported, it sends a strong message across the organisation: We mean what we say. And we’re backing it!

At fr&nk, we can help ensure the vision and realign priorities.
